EGEDEN HOTEL

I liked that it was clean and located close to a lot of things. Datca is small though and any hotel would be in a good location there.

I didn’t like that the hotel seems to be overrated both on Booking and on Google. The room was basic but even with the basic amenities there were problems - the kettle could seriously cause harm when boiling water as the handle itself got extremely hot. The light in the rooms mini fridge was constantly on so there was a constant blue light shining in the room. The room we stayed in (2) had a glass panel as a door so there was basically no privacy when either me or my partner went to the bathroom. Also the entire bathroom flooded whenever one took a shower and no one cleaned the floors whenever the room was “cleaned” each day so we had to deal with a sandy bathroom floor for the three nights we stayed there. The lounge are was less than ideal since the entire staff seemed to be extremely unhappy and have very little experience in hospitality - the child working at the front desk (he’s in his last year in high school) never cracked a smile and seemed like we were too much whenever we asked for something. We also read great things about the breakfast but a lot of it was store bought and I’ve had better breakfasts at similar hotels for much cheaper. Furthermore after we left and checked out I had a series of missed calls about us not paying for the room as they needed my card number. I’ve never had this problem when paying for a room on Booking (although I had booked all my stays at hotels in Turkey through this platform) and I needed to literally pull to the side of the road while driving to look at my credit card statement and details to make sure that they didn’t already make a payment on my card. The cost/performance is downright disappointing and it seems like everyone working there has no experience in hospitality. I would have rated this place MUCH lower for the lack of hospitality and the facilities but not in this economy.
