Mackerel Cottage consists of a kitchen with electric oven, gas hob, microwave, fridge with icebox, dishwasher, a living/dining room with Smart TV, woodburning stove, and dining seating for four, and a conservatory snug. The bedrooms consist of a king-size and twin, serviced by a bathroom. Outside there is a rear courtyard with furniture, plus roadside parking and parking in close by car parks, payable on site. Two well-behaved dogs welcome. Sorry, no smoking. Shop and pub 0.1 miles, beach 0.6 miles. WiFi, fuel, power, bed linen, and towels included in the rent. Make a memorable getaway to the coast of Dorset with a stay at Mackerel Cottage. Note: Check-in from 4pm, check-out by 10am. The house has clearly had a good level of investment in recent times and is well decorated, very clean and tidy with new boiler, white goods, TV. We had a good stay (apart from parking nonsense…) with easy walking access to the harbour and beach. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was large with a good size bath and plenty of water, although it’s not possible to have a ‘stand up’ shower as the ceiling height prevents this. The downstairs toilet should have an extractor fan fitted and there is some further ‘making good’ required to the house brickwork maintenance. (Painting)
Nevertheless we were pleased with the house.
PARKING IS A MINEFIELD AND SPOILED OUR STAY!
Access is tight for cars. On street parking is not impossible. We were expecting to empty the car in front of the house and then find parking. Unloading is tricky as there is no pavement and space for one car on the single lane narrow road – so if a car comes you need to drive around the block or reverse into a very tight space indeed.
A kind adjacent neighbour told us that the gravel strip to the south east of the property was permissible for parking to all. We parked there and on return were both blocked in and greeted with an unpleasant poorly written note which was nonsense

What a let down weeds along the front if the cottage. No drawers in bedrooms no where to put anything in the bathroom. Cobwebs in the damp smelling lean to. Child's finger marks up the stairs and on the radiator in the lounge. Stair carpet needs a good clean. Outside light needed in the back garden. Definitely won't be booking again and definitely not recommending it what a let down.
