The owner had provided clear instructions for entering the house and we were given a lovely warm welcome by the caretaker Katerina. In a nice town to stroll about, it's also a great spot for exploring this region of Crete, including gorges and beaches on the south side. We could thus recommend using the house as an exploring hub for several days. In this regard the other reviews are correct.
However, the house is situated next to the main through-route at a busy spot where traffic passes (especially trucks and motorcycles - also those associated with the closeby takeout businesses). Whilst the inner courtyard is attractive, the loud noise severely impacted our relaxation. Despite closed windows noise can even be heard in the house.
