Exactly halfway between Olbia and San Teodoro lies the tourist resort of Loiri Porto San Paolo, a municipality in Eastern Sardinia that combines the village of Loiri, the marine borough of Porto San Paolo, and several hamlets nestled in the Mediterranean greenery.
Loiri Porto San Paolo boasts 15 thousand hectares of sea and 40 coastal kilometres of the marine area of Capo Coda Cavallo. Its landscape is dominated by the suggestive and imposing Tavolara Island, a paradise for diving and trekking enthusiasts. The symbol of the coastline is Cala Ghjlgolu, which shines with the turquoise of the sea, ochre-coloured sand, and the famous turtle-shaped granite rock.
For sea and relaxation lovers, a visit to Porto Taverna and Cala Brandinchi beaches is unmissable. Moreover, from Porto San Paolo, daily connections depart to reach the wonders of the imposing Tavolara and the minor islands of Molara, Molarotto, Piana, and dei Cavalli.
The traditional gastronomy is also to be discovered, in the numerous local establishments and restaurants in the centre and during festivals. Myrtle kid and Gallurese soup for a land dinner, sea urchins, bottarga, mussels, and oysters if you prefer to try the gulf's fish. To accompany, a good Vermentino di Gallura DOCG is a must, and to conclude, a delicious seada with honey and a glass of artisanal myrtle liqueur.
The Olbia Costa Smeralda airport is 20 minutes by car from the accommodation.
