It is a nice place close the train station of Shinano-Omachi. It is mostly used by people starting or ending their trip along the Tateyama-Kurobe Alpine Route, as did I. The staff was very lovely, willing to hold conversation with me in my very broken Japanese, but making an effort to understand me. The common area and the kitchen were newly renovated and quite nice. Most importantly the price for me was very cheap, even though I visited right after the the alpine route opened. Also the Futon was relatvely soft (for a futon anyways) and the aircon managed to heat the room. The nearest combini is a seven eleven, about 10 minutes by foot.

The house and rooms were quite old and battered. My door couldn't be opened properly, as the wood started to fray at the bottom. The toilet was communal, which is also not unusual.

Friendly host with some English spoken. Learned that Omachi is on the old Salt Road; the Omachi Mountain Museum is interesting to visit. The inn is an older building which has been renovated; simple shared facilities which are clean & comfortable. Great location within short walk to Shinano-Omachi Station. Would stay there again.

Overpriced for a small town and the simple accommodation, but presumably reflects demand due to Omachi being a starting point for the Alpine Route.

The host was helpful, super friendly and able to communicate in English. The room we stayed was a spacious Japanese-styled room with new air conditioning.
