This is a unique property, a former monastery, which has been beautifully converted with a conservation mindset by Béatrice, whose grandmother’s house this was. Béatrice is an exceptional hostess who regaled us with wonderful stories of the domaine’s history, from the visit of Francis of Assisi, to her own childhood recollections of hearing water course through the monks’ irrigation system. We were only able to stay the one night, but it was a truly memorable one. A highlight was our swim in the eco-filtered pool, once the monastery cistern. But the terraced gardens too are magnificent, marked out by the limestone walls and irrigation channels of the monks’ vegetable gardens and extending to 7 hectares. Breakfast was delicious and beautifully presented in the old refectory. If you’re visiting Bonifacio, I can think of no better place to stay.

The Convent is the most magical place to stay, and it was a very special end to our fortnight travelling around Corsica. Beatrice was a wonderful host, she couldn’t have been more helpful and accommodating. She gave us a fascinating tour of the Convent, church, and the beautiful gardens, explaining the history of the place, and her family’s connection with it, going back centuries. The rooms were exquisite, decorated with beautiful furniture and antiques. The breakfast was the best we’d had in Corsica, served in a stunning dining room. And the gardens were beautiful, with a lovely swimming pool - perfect after coming back from a walk down to the port of Bonifacio. There were shady places to relax in the gardens and a very comfortable area in the house for relaxing. Perfect!

Le couvent de Saint Julien est exceptionnel , calme , vue magnifique. Entouré de verdure avec plusieurs endroits où se prélasser ou déjeuner. Béatrice est une hôte formidable tres à l’écoute et attentionnée.

Excellent accueil de notre hôte, qui nous a reçus comme des amis. Le lieu est enchanteur. Ce fut une étape très agréable, on ne l'oubliera pas.
