McMahon Suite - Central CBD

Very central to town. Good comprehensive instructions to access the property, the photo's provided helped a lot.

No milk for drinks provided. Record player and vinyls there but unplayable which was disappointing.

The location was FANTASTIC! If you like history, then I think you would love staying in this building. WOW! The converted "Old Government Building" is VERY cool. The halls, the architecture, the creative repurposing of particular rooms and corridors, the grand entrance staircase! So cool! The location is also VERY central (on Christchurch Square I believe) within walking distance of everything that felt "central". We were bummed that reservations at the trolly restaurant were all full, but maybe next time! We walked down to the Riverside Market instead for some AMAZING food and desserts. We only had one night in Christchurch, but in the future maybe we would like to stay for 2 or 3 nights.

It might sound silly, but I read "private pool" to mean a private pool for the room. I thought that the pool in the photos was private for our suite. That is not the case. Apparently the private pool meant access to the private health club facilities. The McMahon suite is just one of the many private apartments in the Old Government Building. They all share the pool/sauna/gym. Additionally, there was not a book with maps/recommendations or anything like that in the apartment; we were fine without it, but it is always nice to hear a little bit from the homeowners regarding their recommendations. A quick note on the dryer--it took us several hours to dry our clothing and swimsuits. I'm not sure if this was a user error on our part or an issue with the dryer. Lastly, the shutter of the upstairs bedroom was broken off and resting in the closet. We notified the owners, but that seems like an important thing to have fixed before letting new people arrive.
