小宿　福右衛門邸

ホストの方も丁寧な方で、宿はお庭も含めとても素敵でした！スピーカーも良かった！近くの温泉もすごく良かったですし、オススメいただいたお店もとっても美味しかったです。

看板犬のすずちゃんとの触れ合いも楽しみだったのですが、到着時刻が遅過ぎてできなかったことが心残りです。

La maison est superbe, avec son beau jardin. C'était un enchantement ! L'accueil de notre hôte était très sympathique, il nous a aidé pour notre réservation de ferry.

This is a fantastic place, and excellent choice if you want to relax and absorb the local culture. The house used to be an old store (at least 100 years) which was until a couple of years ago a successful restaurant. Most of its windows face a beautiful small private Japanese garden. The kitchen is of course super equipped, the beds are comfortable and the owner provided us with two futons for the kids. The owner was extremely nice, going out of this way to accommodate our late check-in, and kept checking that everything is alright (he lives next doors). Near the location, there is a charming sento supplied with onsen water (Chuzan onsen), and a few good options for restaurants. If you like coffee make sure to visit Nest Coffee next doors. All in all, I highly recommend this place.

I liked everything, but it is important to note that this is a place for relaxation and not for intense sight seeing. If you want to spend a lot of time on Sakurajima or kirishima, and want to be less car dependent then you should aim for a more central location. That said, all these sights are perfectly accessible from the location by car, but expect at least 20 min to get to central Kagoshima and around an hour for Kirishima.
