Perhentian Marriott Resort & Spa

Celebrating our 10th anniversary here. All is good. Excellence except the stairssss to the beaches. Somehow, very enjoy staying here and the staff are very friendly & helpful. 👍

We had a lovely stay here. I was a little apprehensive about how it was going to be as I had some friends travel last year and when it first opened and they didn’t have a good experience perhaps there were teething issues. However, all my doubts were erased as the staff were just amazing. Everyone (except for one) was very pleasant and helpful. Service was truly above and beyond. Nothing was too much to ask for. A special shoutout to the buggy boys who took us from one place to another with a huge smile and would go out of their way and get us towels for the beach. Thank you so much! The beach, although 200+ steps down was beautiful and serene. You could snorkel and see many fishes just there. The pool too was amazing and my kids enjoyed the teens club. I encountered 2 issues - one was regarding the limited food options. 3 restaurants with very small menus. If you’re staying for 4 days and more, it becomes a problem. We tried all the restaurants and only ate in the hotel (there is a small restaurant just outside but we didn’t try it). Food quality was good but limited options. Room service was very quick and everything came warm. I suggest having a more extensive menu. Breakfast buffet too was similar on all days and the quality of the pastries should be improved. Second issue - I did encounter one rude staff and I usually don’t label them but this was unacceptable. It was on our first day during the breakfast buffet on the 31/7. He was minding the egg station orders and seemed like a manager there (even more reason this shouldn’t have happened) and wasn’t a local staff (he was Indian I think). My husband had accidentally given me the wrong table number for my eggs order. When I passed the station after getting other food, he actually told me off - he said “do you know that I’ve been going all around the tables looking for your table and you gave me the wrong number! “ the manner in which he said this was very rude and unacceptable. Come on, mistakes happen and a customer has paid to come to the resort - how can you treat someone this way?! When I asked about my eggs, he shouted “I left in on your table!”. I didn’t want to cause a scene so I left but you can imagine how an experience like that can really dampen someone’s experience. No one should ever speak to a customer like this - he could have told me politely. Marriott group, you should work on training your staff better. I was extremely disappointed in his behaviour and to me it was completely unacceptable especially considering he seemed to be a manager - the other staff were so much more courteous and respectful.

Staff by the name Norhafizul is very helpful and giving us the best of service. we would like to give a very special thanks to him treating us like family.

Kids club very fun. Breakfast option very limited. All of the restaurant takes a lot of time to get ready. Room very nice
