Orchid Island Bure

The hosts were incredibly friendly, the bure was spotless and character filled.

We didn’t have enough time to utilise the kayaks and other facilities as we were so busy around Pacific Harbour!

We absolutely loved our time at the accommodations and the amenities were amazing and just too good. We came for a family wedding and we stayed for the New Year for 3nights. The hosts Robert and his family were very receptive and welcoming. Our car was safe and had good communication with our host till check out. Stunning view and kayaks provided to onto the lido behind the pool. Highly recommend this place.

Safe and secure, lovely property owners who were friendly and attentive eg lots of cold water in the fridge, we had washing out on the line one day and the lovely mama brought it in for us when it started raining and we were out - we really appreciated that. Also when our wifi didn’t work she went out of the property to rectify the issue - she was so amazing. Robert also brought us passionfruit and avocado to try - so kind and always very talkative. The pool was lovely too and right outside our door thankfully.

Great that bug screens were on all the windows but gaps around the front door and the bathroom roof was open so mosquitoes came in - I got so many mossiest bites despite a (provided) mossie plug-in being used. I should’ve figured that there would be lots of mossies considering the property was right by the river - that was on me. Bathroom could only be secured from the outside so we needed someone to lock and unlock from the outside. Would have been nice to have known about the tour operator available there, we found out when leaving, we left his card on the table with the couple of tour pamphlets that were provided in the room for others to know. However, the bure we had was definitely cosy and comfortable.

The property is located at a nice location just minutes from the beach and super markets. Its kind of an outhouse that is rented out with the owner living on the other portion.

The property did not have aircon. Luckily for us, the weather was good and we didn't feel its absence. The issue, we had was about the glass door for the toilet. It is so awkward knowing everyone in the room can see you. Its ok for couples, but not when you are with families or friends. I request the owner looks into this and puts in a Frosted Vinyl Film to ensure this is addressed. Other than that we had an enjoyable stay although we spent only one night and most of our day was spent on the beach.
