The Space:
Burns Yard has style and class in abundance. This quirky holiday home is based across three floors and you’ll be wowed by the modern interiors.
As you walk into the hallway, head straight up the stairs and you’ll find the bedroom and bathroom on the first floor. The bedroom is a clean and bright space featuring a large, extravagant bed and contemporary lights which hang above marble bedside tables. Dark wooden beams contrast perfectly with the white walls and grey colour scheme. A floor length gold mirror and blue suede chair complete the room and add even more glamour.
In the bathroom you’ll find grey patterned tiles and sleek silver hardware. The room features a spacious walk in shower and a white, gloss vanity cabinet.
Head up the stairs again to the second floor and you’ll discover the open plan kitchen and living area. Wow! With sloping ceilings and breath-taking views of Whitby and the Abbey, this space is very impressive. The dark blue kitchen creates a cosy feel which contrasts beautifully with the clean, white walls. You’ll have everything you need for your stay as the kitchen is equipped with an oven, hob, microwave, toaster, kettle, fridge and dishwasher.
Relax on the eclectic, velvet sofa with a book or switch on the flat screen TV to catch up on your favourite shows.
Enjoy meals at the marble dining table – whether it’s breakfast after a lazy morning or an evening dinner with your loved one. You can open up the window completely and let the heat drift in during the summer months.

The Neighborhood:
Burns Yard is located in the iconic Flowergate – one of the oldest and most historic streets in Whitby. You’ll find cosy cafes, restaurants and shops lining the street, so the apartment is ideally located. The Blue Flag West Cliff beach and promenade is just a short 5-minute walk from the property. On Pier Road, you’ll find fun arcades and plenty of fish restaurants where you can sample the catch of the day. The other side of Whitby is full of narrow, medieval streets dotted with boutiques and pubs. Climb the famous 199 steps up to the Church of Saint Mary. You can also discover the renowned ruined Whitby Abbey, which was the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s gothic novel ‘Dracula’. Step outside of Whitby and you’ll uncover a haven of woodland and moorland. Whitby forms part of the North York Moors National Park so it’s the perfect place for long walks.
Getting Around:
Burns Yard is located in the centre of Whitby so the town can easily be explored on foot. Whitby train station is just a short 5-minute walk away so villages and towns along the North Yorkshire coast can easily be reached via rail. There’s also a taxi rank in close proximity to the train station. There are plenty of bus routes throughout Whitby. Hop on the X4 and you can visit beautiful coastal villages like Sandsend, Runswick Bay and Staithes. The X93 travels along the coast to Scarborough. The 95 route features plenty of quaint villages, such as Grosmont and Lealholm.

The host uses a company that sends dozens of upsell messages. Instructions are good. But the download didn’t work off line. Parking info was difficult to access so arriving was pretty stressful. Very steep stairs in the property with few handrails. But loved y area and dubious view to the abbey.

First impression is not good. Entrance is in an alley off the main road. The apartment is not for people with disabilities or who have problems with stairs. From the door off the alley you have steep steps up to the door of the apartment. Then you have the same to the first floor & again to the second. On floor one you have the bathroom & bedroom. On the second floor is an open plan kitchen/living room. Positives are the apartment is clean, well maintained & has all the appliances you need i.e. washer, dishwasher, fridge, freezer. It has a lovely view of the abbey from the living room. The shower is hot & powerful & there is plenty of room for a couple. Good quality TV with SKY. Also the location is excellent. Only a 5 minute walk to West Cliff or the harbour. There is a loading bay outside the alley so you can drop off your luggage before parking the car. Negatives, apart from the stairs, is the lack of storage space. The bedroom only has a hanging rail. Even though there is plenty of space, there is no wardrobe or chest of drawers. If you were here for a week, your clothes would have to be kept in your suitcase. A free standing fan would have been good in the hot weather we are having. Also if you have a pet, there is no outside space. We had to take the dog for a walk when he wanted a comfort break. Day or night. Overall though a pleasant break. The apartment grows on you. It’s clean, spacious & in a great location. Free Zone W parking permit included in the price.

On Arrival the carpets look very tired and musty smell. Bathroom is tiny loo roll holder and bin is rusty and dirty. Shower is in need of regrouting and no space in bathroom for toiletries just a window sill. Bedroom has only a rail for clothes a
