OYO The Rivenhall Hotel in Witham, Chelmsford

The most likeable thing about this hotel is the staff. Lovey people, went out of their way to make me comfortable. The hotel could definitely do with an upgrade though, especially for business travel stays. Brilliant for on site parking.

Hotel was quite nice, room was clean and tidy, you can see the hotel is being renovated, Staff was all very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay there again,

The room was very clean and the bed had lovely sheets. The shower was very good. However the main problem was there was no place to have breakfast, I was informed of this on my way to the hotel! As we came by train we could not go and find a place for breakfast. Staff told us there was a cafe where we could eat 2 minutes up the road, it was not a cafe but a service station that sold hot pies. Some Travelodges do breakfast to go boxes which would have been acceptable. In the room there was only one towel, two teabags and 2 coffee sachets and 2 milks. This was not adequate. For some reason there were also only 2 plugs which made it difficult, kept having to unplug something to plug in something else. At 11pm there was a group of very noisy guests shouting and fighting in the corridor and this lasted until nearly 1 o'clock. No attempt by staff was made to break this up, I think the police should have been called. We were staying during the heatwave and so l asked for a fan and was given a very effective brand new one. Value for money - very reasonable but would have preferred to pay more and had a better experience.
