I cannot recommend this stay enough!! If you're in the area and are looking for a nice place to stay, you MUST choose Mana's house. We were road tripping around the Japanese alps (in summer) and staying here was one of the highlights of our trip. Mana is such a kind and warm person, she will say her English isn't good but that's not true, it's perfect! She was in constant communication with us on our way there, and had hand knitted some handkerchief pouches as a gift for us. This is the attention to detail that really stays with you. We showed her pictures of us dressed with the kimonos we bought in Kyoto and she was so happy to see us embracing her culture. It was genuinely one of the nicest interactions we had in our entire trip. The house is a traditional Japanese house, spacious and comfortable. The surroundings are so calm and peaceful. We stayed in the middle of summer and even then did not need any AC whatsoever. It was a nice respite from our trip and I recommend it to anyone that wants a comfortable stay up in the mountains. We were just 5 minutes away from the bigger town where we could have dinner, but far enough for a totally peaceful atmosphere. 10/10
