Apartment Medeni

The best welcome to such a sweet apartment in the most beautiful countryside. Petar & Bernarda were such lovely hosts who live in the downstairs apartment, so close at hand if you need anything. They met us at arrival, showed us around and gave us a welcome drink. We conversed via translation apps which was entertaining :) The apartment was very comfortable, well furnished and clean. Plenty of towels, toilet paper and bedding. It was in a lovely quiet location with a shop and really delicious pizzeria within a 5 min drive. A perfect place to stay if your visiting Plitvice National Park, approximately a 20 min drive south. We had an excellent visit, the pricey entrance fee is worth it. We took route C and spent about 6hrs there, absolutely stunning views. On the way home we made a stop at a swimming spot called Lovers Bridge swimming spot in Slunj. Free parking, and swimming in a clean river, it was so beautiful on a sunny dayl! There's a drinks and snacks bar where you could hire paddle boards, changing pods, a diving board and some anchored floating pads that lots of kids loved playing on. Frogs, dragon flies, butterflies and water snakes to look at. As you can hear, we had a fab visit. We spent two nights but would have happy stayed longer.

The only thing we were lacking was an oven, only because we got to the shop late and there was only frozen meat & fish. We ended up cooking veggies gyozas and rice on the hob. Otherwise everything was great.

Our group of four had an amazing stay here. The location was ideal for visiting Plitvice Lakes National Park early in the morning and again later in the day, while still allowing us to relax and enjoy the peaceful countryside atmosphere surrounded by sheep, cows, chickens, and roosters. The accommodations were spotless, comfortable, and had everything we needed for a great stay. Our host, Bernarda, was truly exceptional and easily our favorite host of the trip. She greeted us with plum brandy and was so warm, welcoming, and accommodating throughout our visit. She even surprised us with a warm traditional pastry, possibly štrukli, which was absolutely delicious. During our stay, we also visited Barac Caves and Rastoke, both of which are well worth seeing. Croatia ended up being one of our favorite destinations, and Bernarda’s hospitality made the experience even more special and memorable.

Apartment Medeni is a home away from home, or rather it felt like a sleepover at your favourite grandparents' home. We were warm, comfortable and safe in this clean apartment with everything we needed. Petar and Bernarda were such beautiful gracious hosts and we felt very welcome. We used it as a base to visit Plitvice, but also found local wonders like an excellent pizzeria and pekara at the end of the street as well as a cheese factory just a few doors up.
