About this house rental
Welcome to The Salty Dog! 5 minutes from Wax Marina & 15 minutes from Mammoth Cave National Park, this spacious & bright home has 5 spacious bedrooms & 4 full baths, large open rooms perfect for entertaining and large groups, plus an outdoor shower, outdoor fire pit, screened-in deck, laundry room, and hot tub. Recently added in September of 2025, the property also now features a large flat concrete pad at the bottom of the driveway with a basketball goal and pickleball court/net.
This house is perfect for families and large groups. There are two separate indoor living rooms/family rooms, stocked with plenty of games, puzzles, and kid toys, as well as 5 TVs located throughout the house (one being on the upstairs screened-in deck). The kitchen is large and spacious (and fully furnished), with an island that seats 8 and a large farmhouse dining room table that seats another 8-10. Enjoy cooking a meal on the Blackstone grill located on the screened-in deck, or relax around the fire table while watching TV on the deck. And of course, this house is located right on beautiful Nolin Lake, with a gravel walking path from the house down to the water (approximately 0.3 miles).
Per COE rules, guests are not permitted to use the dock. However, Wax Marina is only a 5 minute drive if you want to be on the water during your visit. Mammoth Cave National Park is also located nearby, making this the perfect getaway!

Spacious inside and out. Very well stocked kitchen and paper goods. Comfortable mattresses and bedding. Responsive hosts. Only downside was the temperature in downstairs bedrooms - A little warm and not great airflow

We loved this property!! We had 18 of us stay for a long weekend. It was a beautiful home, well stocked, all kitchen appliances and large Blackstone griddle!! We loved the firepit and the outdoor porch. There were 3 nugget couches (kid furniture) that several of our littles slept on and could be moved around house to accommodate sleeping arrangements. Would go back!!

The house was even better in person! We traveled with a girls basketball team for a team retreat and it was just perfect. It had plenty of space for everyone. There were plenty of areas for the girls to hang out, their favorite place was the covered patio. They would hang out and watch movies at night. We enjoyed the fire pit as well as the blackstine grill. This house was awesome and we would definitely come back!

We took a family trip to Kentucky to see Mammoth Caves and a few other things in the area. We had 10 people (3 couples and 4 kids) ranging in age from 12-65. We had a great time and this home was an incredible place to relax after a long day of cave exploring or walking around Bowling Green! It is very well appointed and had everything we needed. We made a few meals at the house and had all the dishes and necessary appliances.
The main floor is dramatic, with high vaulted ceilings that lead up to an en suite loft. The open floor plan on the main floor makes it perfect for a large group to gather, cook, and converse. The basement offers 3 bedrooms, 2 baths and a separate living room space that worked out to be perfect for the kids to hang out in. The screened in porch was a nice setting when it cooled off at night with the overhead string lights and fans to keep some air flow going!
All the beds were very comfortable and I recieved so many comments about how perfect a choice the place was! We had a great time and would definitely recommend!!! Danielle was a great host and responded to any questions we had!
