4 Balconi House- Appartamento moderno a Lecce

L’hôte était agréable et nous a donné la possibilité de lui laisser nos bagages le dernier jour, ce que nous avons beaucoup apprécié. L’appartement est spacieux et lumineux. Très confortable pour 3 adultes. La machine à laver était un vrai plus.

Nous avons pris un appartement avec cuisine pour pouvoir faire à manger et ne pas devoir aller au resto tous les jours. Or, la cuisine manquait de beaucoup d’équipements (bouilloire, couteau de cuisine, planche à découper, économe, etc.). De plus, l’emplacement, bien que pratique est très bruyant (coups de klaxon, concerts, etc.) et se garer près de l’appartement est un cauchemar.

Amazing location and view, the apartment had everything we needed for our stay. Loved the complimentary wine, such a nice surprise. We used Lecce as a base to travel to different beaches.

We had a bit of difficulty entering the building as the broker was not really picking up to open the door. Also, it was very hot even during the night (we had AC and there is no one to blame for global warming, eh?)

There is good and bad with this place and some possibilities with some work. The place is located near the main gate and .5 miles from the train station but a long way to the main bus station. To open the main door the first time, you used an app with a virtual key and then collected the keys from a lock box. The bed was comfortable with extra blankets which were needed. More on than later. Olive oil, coffee, sugar, salt were provided. They was an espresso machine which we didn't use and a good quality Bianchi moka pot. A number of little tiendas run by immigrants are nearby with not much in them and the real grocery store is a ways away.

This place is incredible damp and cold, at least in December when we were there. There are wall heaters/coolers that sort of work. They are very noisy and cycle on and off every couple of minds and shake and rattle and don't do much. You wouldn't be able to sleep with them and I doubt they would cool the place in the summer. Fortunately there was an electric space heater that we moved room to room. It wasn't powerful enough to heat the living room but enough for the bedroom. And with all the different electrical devices, the main breaker would trip. The internet didn't work the first two days. They guy said he would reset it and "that would be that." After than it worked sometimes. The electrical outlets are very old and had bad connections. One time when I move he spacer heater, the plug was screaming hot and therefore a fire hazard. Some plugs didn't work. As is typical for European showers, this one had its typical set of problems. One shower head just sprayed water out the side. Water would run out of the shower under the glass partition. Because of the dampness, the towel we used to dry the floor was never dry again for our stay. The water heat was big enough for one shower. The windows look out to courtyards between buildings and never see the sun adding to the dampness. We left with lots of congestion from the dampness that magically disappeared on the first day of our next stay, so yes, it was this place. We used the washer and it did a marginal job. This seems like a place that was bought and never lived in and the owner doesn't know or doesn't care as long as he gets paid. It reminds of the places I have stayed in Mexico and Egypt and other third would countries.
