Perfectly situated, near the old town, with free parking in a courtyard. Very nice house, comfortable and well equipped.

HIDDEN CHARGE & PARKING WARNING! I am writing this to expose a sneaky pricing scheme used to inflate the rental cost of this apartment. I originally booked a 3-bedroom apartment for 2 people, knowing a 3rd guest might join us last-minute. Before booking, I verified that the rate remained identical whether 2 or 3 guests stayed, and we only ever intended to use 2 of the 3 bedrooms. Just 2 hours before arrival, the host asked how many people were staying. I confirmed 3 guests (and reiterating we only needed 2 bedrooms). He claimed this was no issue, but insisted I update the guest count on the app before he would send the check-in code. No extra fees were mentioned. As soon as I updated the guest count, the platform automatically charged me an additional £140. When I questioned the host, he refused to help. After speaking with customer support, I uncovered the trick: room rates increase closer to the stay date. When you modify a booking on the day of arrival, the system retroactively recalculates your entire stay at the higher last-minute rate—without warning. Because the guest manually triggers the update, support and the host offload all responsibility onto you. By the time I discovered this, I was already checked in, cancellation meant a 100% penalty, and I was too busy working in York to contest it further on the spot. I am convinced the host exploited this loophole deliberately. Parking Issue: The gated courtyard parking is extremely tight and unsuitable for larger vehicles. The entrance is exceptionally narrow and low. My short-wheelbase VW Caravelle (with no roof rack) could not fit, forcing me to pay £60 for street parking over 3 nights. Total hidden costs: £200 on top of the original booking. Exercise extreme caution when staying here!
