Sky and Vineyards - Olivo -

Our comments are only about Olivo, which is the smallest apartment in the Sky & Vineyards complex. (I recall that they have three larger units available for rental, but they were unavailable and we didn’t see them). Olivo is an adorable, charming, cozy, newly and tastefully renovated 1 BR/1 Bath apartment on the ground floor in the gated Sky& Vineyards complex. Everything feels brand new, yet has an understated Italian vibe that is in keeping with the charm of La Morra, which town center is about a seven minute steep walk uphill. There are two main rooms, a larger living room/kitchen area, the bedroom, and a really nice bathroom with a large rectangular shower stall with overhead and handheld shower heads, lots of counter space, and storage underneath. There is a large pass-through between the bedroom and the living room/kitchen, which I’m guessing is to alleviate what might be a somewhat claustrophobic bedroom with a king bed, only because it has no windows, and its only source of outside light is a cool switchable solar tube in the ceiling, and light from the front door and kitchen window, which are visible from the pass-through. The bedroom does not have a closet, but has a freestanding rack with hangers and a small dresser. The bed is large and comfortable, and there are two nightstands with easy access to power, and their own independent lamps. The main room has a remote-controlled air conditioning wall unit, a dishwasher, and everything else you will need, along with a round table that seats four and two additional comfy chairs for relaxing. The unit does not have its own washing machine, but the shared stackable washing machine and dryer – very unusual for Italian apartments – are across the hall, and can be reserved by putting your Olivo key fob on a board. The laundry room also has an ironing board and foldable drying racks, along with wool dryer balls and laundry detergent.

Nothing, really, but a few things worth noting: As previously mentioned, there is only one window in the apartment, which is in the kitchen, and like every other window we encountered in Italy, has no screens, so it’s worthless in the evening unless you like the company of bugs. There is no luggage rack or elevated luggage surface, so the only place to open large luggage is on the floor in the living room or in the teeny alcove between the bedroom and the bathroom. We thought we would miss having a private terrace, patio or balcony to just gaze endlessly at the vineyards surrounding the apartment, but that turned out not to be a big deal because shared access is just steps away. But if that is important to you, definitely reserve one of the larger units way in advance.

Very good location, calm, close to wineyards. Well equipped flat, clean, cosy, modern, sensitively reconstructed.

I really disliked the automatic light in the corridor between the bedroom and the bathroom. I could not find any way to switch it off, and it was quite disruptive during the night. I honestly cannot understand why it is installed this way. Another point worth mentioning is that, based on the photos on Booking.com, we believed the apartment included a private outdoor space, such as a balcony or terrace overlooking the vineyards. In reality, there was a beautiful shared garden with these views, but no private outdoor area attached to the apartment. This was ultimately our misinterpretation of the photos, but it may be worth clarifying this in the listing to avoid similar confusion for future guests.

Perfect location, beautiful design and super comfortable bed. Everything was very clean and thoughtful, we plan to return in the future. The own parking place was a great addition.
