Very nice, cozy apartment about a 10-minute walk from Union Square subway, which made getting around NYC super easy.
As advertised, the bathroom is shared with one other apartment. Given the price and location, this was perfectly fine for our 3-day stay. The rooms are downstairs. The stairs can be a little steep and narrow, but for a young couple like us this wasn’t an issue ;-).
The room was very clean, and it’s clear the owner pays attention to detail. It was quite hot outside (around 88°F / 30°C), but your own in-room AC cooled things down quickly and comfortably for us.
The only issue we had was the front door code not working. However, the self check-in instructions with pictures and text are very clear! After a quick call, we were let in remotely. The next day we experienced the same issue, but then we were sent a code that worked the rest of our stay! I think our experience was just an incident, and it felt like they were on top of it.
In a big and buzzing city as New York, we were very pleased with the (digital) hospitality of this stay and after a full day our apartment felt nice and comfortable to come back to.

The location of the flat is great, very close to everything. Instructions on how to get in were precise. A bit more guidance on how to use e.g. the coffee machine, TV etc would be helpful as I kept having to text the owner. Also could not find the crockery (in what looks like a broom cupboard, so don't be scared to open cupboards!) Very helpful to be able to use the clothes washer (with owner's permission). It's expensive but typical for New York.
It seemed like the owner, Alice, had friends staying over in the one apartment (either that or they very quickly became friends). On my second night, they were leaving for a flight at 4am but there was another person booked into the apartment so they mostly sat in the (small) shared kitchen/lounge all day and slept there. This felt a bit uncomfortable and one guy was not friendly at all, although the other was fine. Alice came in around midnight and they were all sitting talking loudly in the shared space – right above my room. It kept me awake and I did not want to take a sleeping pill in case I missed my alarm as I was flying the next morning. Eventually I went up at 2am and asked if they could talk more quietly. I also put on the very loud aircon which sort of drowned out the noise.
