Uchi Matsushima Guesthouse

Excellent location / parking / clean and new / owner very chatty - recommend - Entsuin and Zuiganji Temples, boat tour, Tully's for a view, Oshima for Basho fans and dinner at Umechaya

Single room is small / could do with a chair & tiny useable table / hot water available downstairs / small light over bed with switch - or room light switch near head of bed

We had such a wonderful stay in Matsushima and couldn’t have asked for a better host! The place is a small, beautiful gem, perfectly located right in the middle of everything Matsushima has to offer. It was incredibly clean, cozy, and had everything we needed for a great stay. But what truly made our experience special was our host. He was exceptionally friendly, welcoming, and always happy to help. He gave us fantastic recommendations for local restaurants, perfectly matching what we were looking for, as well as great tips for sightseeing and exploring the area. One evening, we spent some time together with our host and the other guests, sharing stories and helping each other plan the next steps of our trips. It was such a lovely and spontaneous evening, and everyone was incredibly kind and helpful. We’re so grateful for the hospitality, the wonderful recommendations, and all the little things that made our stay so special. We absolutely loved our time here and would come back anytime! It is so close to everything. We easily walked here from the train station and it is just across the street from the Matsushima Bay tour boats. Plus it is close to yummy restaurants. It is quiet and peaceful and there is a small kitchen room to take tea or coffee, have a snack and chat with other guests. The beds are comfortable and the owner is so kind.

Had an amazing stay at the guesthouse. The innkeeper was very friendly, knowledgable, and speak great English! I had a great time talking with him and getting all the local recommendations. The rooms are clean and simple - perfect for a simple stay. Would definitely recommend to anyone staying over at Matsushima
