本栖湖畔 民宿 浩庵 Kouan guesthouse at Lake Motosu

Exceptional views of Fuji. Beautiful location by the lake, easy access to stand up paddleboards, kayaking etc. The accomodation itself felt very homely and was a really nice environment. Felt like a little hideaway - very peaceful.

We paid to have dinner and breakfast too and while they were delicious, it was a bit overpriced. For a one off experience I would do it again in a heartbeat but if you don't have a car just be aware that it's quite difficult to make your way to the accomodation. From Kawaguchiko station you need to take an hour long bus ride so just make sure you have a book or something to keep you entertained.

Amazing place to stay. The staff is super friendly and helpful. English works just fine. The location is very beautiful and accessible. It may not seem like that, but it takes just 1 bus (~50mins) from Fuji/Shin-Fuji area. The bus stops at the opposite side of the lake, however that is not a problem, as the staff offers free shuttling service by car (takes around 7mins) or you can also take a walk by the lake (around 2-3hrs), which is amazing and reminds of tropical islands. The water is crystal clear and the beaches are laid with beautiful volcanic rocks. Location extra: my stay was during very hot months of August and most of Mt. Fuji area is usually immersed in thick fog/clouds. The volcano is usually not visible. However, the Lake Motosu and the surrounding stayed very clear for most of the time, even if the surrounding areas were completely foggy. Possible due to its corner position inside the mountain range the clouds just go around it and light breeze of wind is felt almost continuously. It was a perfect spot. The food provided is also great. Both dinner and breakfast delicious traditional japanese. Nothing too fancy, just simple and tasty. Cozy room with AC and clean sheets. Good wifi connection. Beautiful Mt. Fuji view through the window. The room is simple and hence queen size bed should not be expected. One of the best quality/cost ratio I have ever experienced.

Splendid location and the view is astonishing. The dinner and breakfast was plenty and fulfilling. The shop is featuring Yurucamp merch and camping equipment which is nice to look around at.

The room is non-smoking but it smelled like it was smoked on regularly. The bathing area is small and the hot bath can realistically fit just 1 or 2 persons.
