The White Coconut Stay

Very good communication from the owners who were attentive, prompt and helpful when we contacted them, very clear instructions for getting keys, and pleasant staff in the building. The location was fabulous for our needs. It's a 5 walk to the metro and close to stores and restaurants near Street 9 and other amenities in Maadi. The apartment is spacious and clean. The bathroom was very clean and well appointed and there's a functional hair dryer (located in the main bedroom). There is always traffic and other noise in Cairo, but the main bedroom was quite protected from that and quieter than we expected. The wifi works well except in the main bedroom which may be a little far from the source.

The kitchen is very basic and limited in terms of dishes and supplies - good for Egypt, but if you come from other countries (where more kitchen amenities are common) and expect to use the kitchen a lot you may be disappointed. It could use a big bowl to wash produce in (though we appreciated the presence of vinegar to wash it with), a spatula, and any knife that is sharper than a butter knife :) The washing machine does work, but may require some manual intervention to get it to engaged with the spin cycle - just keep trying! You will need to hang clothes to dry and they dry quickly in Egypt. There is a clothes dryer present, but it doesn't dry clothes - it heats them up a bit, but we found the exhaust vent was not connected and the dryer was clogged with lint. The bed in the main bedroom was not the most comfortable, but adequate. The apartment next door was being renovated, leading to quite a bit of noise during our stay, but that should be temporary.

Clean, safe neighborhood I would walk at night comfortably, guys at the reception were kind, the apartment is spacious, everything works…good comms with the hosts
