Le Colombier - Cambalala

Patrick and Gigi ( the hosts) live on site so they were there to greet us and show us around. Patrick speaks English which was helpful for us because my French is pretty rudimentary. We arrived late afternoon on a Sunday so the hosts kindly provided us with some breakfast options until we could get to the supermarket. The villa is fabulous for a family - plenty of room, garden, pool (Patrick maintains this daily so no work involved), lots of outdoor seating and eating areas. Well equipped kitchen for self catering for bigger groups (dishwasher and two fridges helpful). Big communal dining table. Comfortable lounge room and the whole family enjoyed the pool table. We were an extended family group of 8 and had access to 5 double bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms and a shower room ensuite on the second floor. Also a ground floor toilet in the laundry. The washing machine was used a lot. The decor is charming and the house is as pictured. Intermarché a 5 minute drive. Good boulangerie/patisserie a 15 minute walk away in Barbentane. Easy drive into Avignon and centrally located for all that Provence has to offer. Easy onsite parking (you probably do need a car to access this property).

Unfortunately one upstairs toilet was out of commission when we were there but there were two others. The plumbing in the bathrooms is a little idiosyncratic. Showers don’t drain very quickly and the water pressure in a couple of them (there were four showers upstairs) meant they weren’t useable.
