Heatherslade House - Gower Peninsula

Large beautifully appointed and furnished home in amazing location in Wales; couldn’t ask for a better location. Great kitchen, living and entertainment area. Design and decor aesthetic is superb. Hosts have supplied every convenience you might need.

Bedding: mattresses and pillows were new looking but could be upgraded to be comfortable.

Fantastic location, very close to local shop/coffee shop/ cliffs/local pub - beautiful village. If you like walking this is the perfect location. You can catch a bus to Swansea and mumbles from the local shop. The house itself is spotless, finished to a very high spec and incredibly comfortable. Hot tub was fantastic. The snug is very comfortable you could sleep on the sofas! The utility room is a god send, washer and dryer came in very handy! Nice touch with the books and games there to use. Kitchen is fantastic and has everything you need, as well as things you didn’t know you needed! We will be booking this again and we’re very sad to leave.

The property is in a fantastic location close to Three Cliffs Bay and has a number of genuine strengths, including good parking, a secure garden for dogs, a hot tub and excellent entertainment facilities. The house was clean on arrival and, during our stay, the hosts were responsive when issues were raised and were keen to help.

Unfortunately, the property fell short of the “luxury” and “stunning” descriptions in the listing. During a single week’s stay we encountered an unusually large number of maintenance and equipment issues, including the complete failure of the only fridge freezer, resulting in food having to be thrown away, as well as problems with the coffee machine, outdoor lighting, bathroom lock, damaged furniture and a range of other defects and missing items. Individually, many of these issues were relatively minor, but the cumulative effect was disappointing, particularly given the £2,800 price paid for the week. Whilst some parts of the property have clearly been renovated, it currently feels more like a good holiday let than a luxury one. The biggest disappointment was what happened after our stay. We were asked to provide detailed feedback and were told that food lost following the fridge freezer failure would be reimbursed. Despite providing that information and making several follow-up attempts, we have yet to receive either the agreed reimbursement or a response.
