Quirky, well stocked with everything needed to be self contained. Heated floor in bathroom a nice touch.
Location, getting off the main road was difficult up a narrow driveway. Offstreet parking was difficult even in a small car. Noise from road. No way of getting fresh air other than opening the window, which would’ve made the noise of traffic unbearable. Bedroom very hot, even in March, no aircon or fans only heaters.
Wasn’t particularly clean, cobwebs in bathroom/bedroom and crockery dirty, although we did utilised the dishwasher to clean everything before use.
Had to ring staff, who spoke limited English to get access code to get into property.

The Quarters is very funky & such a beautiful mix of historic times & modern style. It encompasses Hobart & was fun. Even though the road was busy, it was quiet.
The parking was awkward & Macquarie St is busy. A welcome basket would also be appreciated.

Cozy and cool vibe. Had all the amenities you would need for a stay in Hobart. Great shower.
It is a bit noisy, the upstairs neighbours can be heard very easily through the ceiling and the road noise is a little loud.

I loved the location, not quite in Hobart city but only 10 mins walk away. South Hobart is an interesting place, with quite a few original buildings still left (like this one). I loved that the basement apartment showed many signs of its age, and of the generations of people who had lived and worked in it, and I appreciated the care the owners had taken in renovating it. It still has a 19thc feel, though with a lovely 21stc bathroom and kitchen area. The modern heating was also much appreciated as the basement was very cool on first entry. There is also a reasonable grocery shop a short walk (3-4 mins) up the hill and around the corner, with a hotel bottle shop on the same route for those who, like me, like to self-cater.
Personally, there was nothing much I disliked, but prospective guests do need to be aware that the original sandstone outside stairs by which one accesses the apartment are very worn and thus uneven. That's also the case in spots inside, where the flagstones have been differentially worn down after maybe 150 yrs of use. There were actually times when I felt like I was walking on a pitching small boat crossing the main room! Those with mobility or balance problems could find this a bit challenging. I found it an acceptable trade-off for the niche experience.
