I checked in at reception and was then taken to the property as it is a large campus. This was helpful. It is a scenic location and within walking distance of shops, town and countryside.

The kitchen was closed which meant you either ate out or had to make do with cold food as there was no access to the onsite restaurant/cafe and no use of the kitchen to put a takeaway in the microwave.

Location was good near park and not too far from town, internet worked well which was important for me, staff helpful and friendly, little shop near the campus, clean.

I had requested and paid for a room with a sofa in it. There was no sofa and apparently no rooms with sofas. So it was pretty uncomfortable as there was only the desk chair to sit on. The sofa in the kitchen had seen better days and the trail of ants walking past it didn’t entice me to sit on it. You can’t always use the kitchen although the one in my block was open. If you can’t use the kitchen then I don’t see how you can even get a cup of tea. The key card was a nightmare and sometimes worked. The design of the room was not great e.g. no loo roll holder in the bathroom. The room was pretty hot, thankfully only in the sunshine in the afternoon but I imagine unbearable if you were on the other side of the building. There is no parking but the racecourse car park isn’t too far away.

Not a huge amount but it’s basically student accommodation so equivalent to a hostel. No frills. Staff on check in were very helpful.

Check in process is privacy intrusive - forces you to provide ID to third party company that also asks reasons for stay etc which is completely irrelevant to the purpose. Next to no parking on site. Mainly, the big issue here is the cost. I paid £110 for one night stay in what is essentially a hostel. Bed and shower with towels is what you get. Prices for booking on the day were closer to £300. Additional extortionately high costs for early check ins too of £60-30.
