Enjoy the tranquil surroundings of a lovingly restored 1880s farmhouse set on 42 acres. Fully renovated in 2024, Fiddletree Farm features 5 bedrooms, 4.5 baths, a chef's kitchen, and stunning views of the Blue Ridge mountain and surrounding piedmont. With room for either one or two families, or perhaps a group of friends looking to celebrate or relax together, Fiddletree is an ideal country getaway.
Route 66's express lanes help make Fiddletree only a one hour drive from Washington DC. Once here, expect to be charmed by open spaces, rolling hills and starry skies. Cows graze on the surrounding fields, wildflowers grow along the banks of Crooked Run, and keen observers can spot .
The Italianate-style farmhouse at Fiddletree was built in the 1880s by the Delaplane family for whom the nearby town is named. Now fully modernized, guests will enjoy a fully appointed chef's kitchen, ample seating and lounge areas, working fireplaces, remodeled bathrooms, and modern amenities. There are four bedrooms upstairs: three king size bedrooms plus one bunk bed room. And a fifth bedroom can be set up downstairs for extra guests or for the convenience of seniors hoping to avoid stairs. A lovely dining room with a wood-burning fireplace is perfect for dinner parties. Various sitting rooms and reading nooks are there for socializing or quiet enjoyment. And guests are free to wander the 42-acre property, which includes nature trails, a vegetable garden, mature trees, and working farm fields.
Fiddletree is in an ideal location. Just a mile up the road is Sky Meadows State Park, which has access to the Appalachian Trail and hosts astronomy programs on Dark Sky nights. If you're thirsty or just curious, sample local wines at RDV, Delaplane Cellars, Arterra Wines, Three Fox Vineyards, or Barrel Oak, all just minutes away. If you plan to eat-in, pick-your-own fruits and vegetables at either nearby Hollin Farms or Hartland Orchard. And if you prefer to eat-out, consider the Hunter's Head Tavern, an authentic British-style gastro pub just minutes away in Upperville, or Field & Main, an acclaimed farm-to-table restaurant in nearby Marshall. The photos of the 1880 Farmhouse don't prepare you for the experience of the place. The farmhouse sits tall on a hill surrounded by undulating green fields. Once inside, you are always aware of the landscape and the sky, framed by scores of tall sash windows. The spacious rooms, high ceilings, muscular woodwork create a palpable sense of permanence and serenity. The decor, done by the Host, manages to mix history with the present in a way that is elegant yet unpretentious, warm, and welcoming. Every piece of furniture, every painting, every element seems exactly suited to the place. The whole property is fully equipped with everything guests could need, particularly the kitchen, which provides among other things two ovens and two dishwashers, a massive refrigerator and freezer. Beds are quite comfortable. The location is central to many of the villages and towns of horse country. The Host provides spot-on recommendations for restaurants, breweries and wineries, and activities. He met us at the property for check-in and gave us a fascinating tour of the property; afterwards, he was exceptionally responsive to questions by text.

This property is a gem. Jonas was very attentive and communicated extraordinarily well. I plan to stay again. I gave 5 stars, but would have given more if that was possible!

Amazing property with a beautiful remodel. The kitchen was very well renovated with of the line appliances and plenty of seating that made it a fun location to hang out with a larger group. The bedrooms and bathrooms were also very spacious and comfortable. Jonas was a wonderful host and went out of his way to make sure we had a fantastic stay.
