Departamento Estreno Vallecito - Arequipa

The owner was very easy to communicate with and it was really easy to get into the apartment as there is no key needed, only a code. The doorman was expecting us and let us in to the garage with our motorcycles and showed us around. The apartment itself was quite luxurious, with a really good washing machine and plenty of space to hangdry laundry. The sun is on that side of the building so the laundry dried fast. The kitchen was great and had everything we needed to cook. Everything was very clean everywhere and it was clear the cleaner had been there recently. The location is lovely! It is a short walk to the grocery store (Tottus) and about a 30min walk into town. It was very easy to hail a taxi close by every time we needed one. There are some small shops in the area, as well as a few restaurants and cafes so you never need to go far for anything. Many of these are not official maps so you have to go exploring a bit!

It was hard to get a good night's sleep as there are no blackout curtains in any of the bedrooms, only a thin rolerblind that is quite see-through. The sun comes up at 5:30am, and the room is just a light in at 5:30am as it is around luchtime. The living room has blackout curtains in addition to rolerblinds and it was darker in the living room in the morning than it was in the any of the bedrooms. The ceiling light in the bedroom also do not turn completely off at night. It goes darker when you turn it off, but there is some sort of slight background light in the light fixture that keeps shining a little. We have seen these in a few different apartment buildings in Peru and it always makes it harder to sleep. One bedroom is kitted out as a room for a couple, but the bed in there was very soft and not very big. The big double bed was in the other room, together with a single bed. The headboards for the two beds covered the only two power sockets in the room. The high chairs in the kitchen are mostly for decoration. The countertop is not sticking out so there is no space for legs if you choose to sit on those chairs so we just stored stuff on there instead.
