From the moment we arrived, we were greeted so warmly by our host, Artemia. She was incredibly kind, welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. My whole family adored her, especially my grandmother, who doesn’t speak English—she made everyone feel comfortable and at home. The cave house itself was absolutely stunning. It was such a unique and special place to stay, beautifully designed and unlike anywhere we’ve stayed before. Artemia also prepared an amazing welcome basket filled with bread, cheese, ham, cereals, milk, orange juice, honey and jam. She even went out of her way to accommodate my gluten-free and dairy-free dietary requirements, which I really appreciated, while still providing everything my family could enjoy. The location was also lovely. It’s peaceful and quiet, away from the crowds of Fira, while still being close enough to reach easily. Artemia also took the time to explain the local bus system, which was very helpful during our stay.

The only small issue we had was on our first night. My cousin and I were staying in the second bedroom, and the single beds only had very thin sheets, so we were quite cold. However, I messaged Artemia the next morning and she resolved it immediately by providing proper bedding. She was extremely responsive and accommodating, so it was only a minor inconvenience. The only other thing worth mentioning isn’t related to the accommodation itself, but to Santorini in general. Taxis are very expensive—around €25 for even short trips, and up to €40 if travelling further to Oia. Renting a car may be a better option for some travellers, otherwise the local buses are affordable but can sometimes be a little stressful to navigate.
