The location was perfect and overall it was a brilliant experience. We only have good things to say at the place we stayed at and we’d definitely recommend for anyone who is traveling to Auckland to give Rate Te Rukutai a go 😊

Felt completely at home—Don’s place is pure comfort and good vibes.

The space feels so warm and homey, and Don is the friendliest host—so welcoming and easy to chat with. The location is also great, with buses nearby and parking available if you’re driving. So many restaurants just down the road with a beautiful beach in any weather, but honestly, it’s so cosy here you’ll just want to stay in and relax.

Five stars for Don and his little slice of calm—I’d move in if I could!

If you’re looking for a place that instantly feels like home, this is it. From the moment you arrive, Don makes you feel right at home. He’s genuinely one of the friendliest and most welcoming hosts you could hope for—always up for a great chat and happy to share local tips (make sure to ask him about his favourite coffee spot, it’s a good one!). The space itself has such a warm, homey feel—beautifully put together, calm, and instantly comfortable. Mission Bay is just down the road, and its lovely no matter the weather—perfect for a walk along the beach or a lazy afternoon people-watching by the water. There are plenty of restaurants nearby too, but honestly, the Airbnb is so cosy and relaxing that you might just find yourself staying in and ordering some Uber Eats instead. It’s also super convenient to get around—there’s a bus stop just down the road if you’re exploring without a car, but if you’re driving, there’s plenty of space to park right on site. Everything about this place just makes life easy. It’s the kind of stay that makes you want to slow down, unwind, and linger a little longer every time.

An unforgettable stay with a fantastic host, stunning views, and the perfect location

Don is an absolute legend—the best host I’ve ever had! The space is spotless, peaceful, and beautifully set, and the views are simply breathtaking. Waking up to those morning sunrises is truly worth it. The property’s location couldn’t be better: there’s a bus stop just down the road, but I highly recommend a stroll through the memorial park down to the waterfront—it’s definitely worth the walk.

We had a truly wonderful stay at Don’s place in Auckland. From the very beginning, Don was exceptionally communicative, answering all our questions and ensuring we felt welcome. He went above and beyond, adding thoughtful touches like a personalized car park spot and other small details that made our stay even more special. The location is beautiful, and Don’s attentiveness to our needs made everything seamless. We highly recommend Don’s place to anyone visiting Auckland—it’s a perfect home away from home! Relax in a quiet neighborhood, closer to city sights!

Comfortable and clean. Don was an amazing host and went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable and helped us see the sites that we wanted around Auckland. Complete privacy offered while we were in his house. Best B&B experience yet!

More opportunity to make your own food would be nice but the house doesn’t really have the opportunity for that. There is a table, toaster, kettle, fridge, and coffee making equipment (with milk in the fridge). There’s a Nespresso machine and pods for a quick coffee but we LOVED the French press and Nespresso milk fridge.
