The house was obviously a run down house that has been prettied up. The kitchen floor was wavy and dangerously soft. I am elderly and tripped on high/low spots. Felt like you could fall through. We could hear animals in the attic during the night. Actually saw the raccoon going in where flashing is damaged on back of house. Upstairs bathroom is not designed for people over 5.5 Ft. tall, Men cannot stand upright to use the shower or the toilet. There are no handrails anywhere..steps into house or staircase for upstairs. Listing says it is in a desirable area.. the dead end street would never be considered desirable to anyone using vrbo. It is private but certainly not a desirable street. The carpet is old and nasty, didn’t want to walk barefoot. Homeowner did work to get us heat, after the 3rd night it was corrected. Temps were in the low 40’s and had been predicted as such, yet homeowner had failed to make sure his listing had heat. As it turns out the gas was not turned on. That should have been corrected before guests ever arrived. Homeowner did refund 3 nights stay due to no heat. I originally booked house for 6 adults for 8 nights. Two of my guests couldn’t take the condition of the house or the no heat situation so they secured other accommodations. I was too embarrassed for the 6th guest to stay here so she also secured other accommodations. The 3 of us that were left were too busy to secure other arrangements and to pack and have to move. Would not recommend this.

In general, the house was clean. However, there were several things that made the stay less than ideal. The shower head in the master bedroom fell off the first time it was used. Also, the shower door did not seal at the bottom, so water often dripped onto the floor. There were soft spots in the kitchen floor and at least one crack. On the third day, ants started showing up in the kitchen. One of the kitchen chairs had a broken leg. A drip coffee maker would have been nice. A few more towels would have been nice, and maybe some floor mats. The vent in the front bedroom didn't seem to have any air flow. The skylights were nice, except for the people sleeping in the loft area, who were woken up early by the bright light. The house had obviously been a remodelled house in bad shape, as it still has a bit of a musty smell, especially in the garage.
