Hygge: a modern cabin with a cozy feel

"A beautifully redesigned cabin nestled on a cliffside in the heart of Slade."  After completion in the fall of 2020 it was dubbed "Hygge" due to the cozy vibe and Scandinavian feel that the cabin evokes.  (What is Hygge?  "hoog-uh")

It serves as a well appointed, modern, and comfy place to call home while visiting the Red River Gorge.  It exists fluidly with the forest and rockfaces.  The unique views from the inside tempt guests to leave its confines to explore the natural surroundings but also guests get to look forwad to delighting in its comforts upon return!

The space:
It is a great place for families or multiple couples.  The communal space promotes togetherness and is all about being comfortable and enjoying each other’s company.

Other things to note:
There is another cabin adjacent.  The parking and driveway is shared with this cabin.  The driveway is steep so parking at the bottom is recommended unless you have a 4WD vehicle.  Otherwise it is a 50 foot walk up the driveway.  It is the expectation of our guests to respect the parking needs of the guests at the other cabin and vice versa.  Although perched on a hillside, Hygge is located high above the parkway.  You WILL hear road noise from the parkway.  In  the wintertime, the parkway is visible.

Kitchen:  The kitchen is well stocked with utensils, pots, pans, cutting boards, toaster, plates, and drinkware.  Potholders and kitchen towels are provided.  The tap water is safe to drink but there is also a water filter pitcher in the full sized fridge as well.  There is a bar with five bar-stools.

Living Room:  A leather couch and two suspended swing chairs overlook the kitchen, television and electric fireplace.

Bedrooms:  There is one bedroom with a queen sized bed and another bedroom upstairs with two full beds and a lofted twin bed.

Technology:  There is wifi! There is a TV that can be used to stream any subscription services you may have (there is no cable television)

Parking:  There are two spots at the bottom of the driveway for parking.  The driveway is steep but a car with 4 wheel drive can park at the top.

Bathrooms:  One full bathroom with a glass door shower and a half bathroom off of the main bedroom.

Additional Amenities:  A deck boasting a hot tub for 5 people and charcoal grill.  Central heating and air conditioning, clothing washer and dryer, sound machines, bluetooth speakers, a few classic board games and puzzles, a few locally relevant books, binoculars, fire forks and a private fire pit.

We are happy to host pets at Hygge and ask for an additional $50 (plus tax) non-refundable pet cleaning fee for the first pet.  Any additional pets are $25 (plus tax).

Linens are always provided for this cabin.  We will provide pillows, blankets, bedsheets and bath towels.  We will also provide kitchen towels, toilet paper, hand and dish soap.

Firewood is also available upon request.  For $25 we will deliver firewood to your fire pit.  Please be sure to mark on your reservation if you would like firewood delivery.  Please be sure to put out all fires COMPLETELY when you are finished.
