Private Cottage

Very convenient for where I was going. Kind and helpful elderly couple. Great neighbours (Mr Dlamini) who helped me out as I was stuck outside since there’s no signage, it’s just residential area. He rang around for me to find out if I was at the right place.

It’s in the south of Johannesburg ( more back rooms or granny flat/cottage ) where electricity situation can be dicey so I had no hot water for a much needed shower on arrival, that was a bummer, shower pressure could be better too.

Location, no breakfast provided.

Water shortage on second day.

The elderly couple is really friendly and helpful, but you struggle to get something when they are indoors. I'm not sure if they can't hear or their bedroom is far from the door. I didn't sleep much the first night, as I wanted to do some work on my laptop, and then the electricity went at about 02h45 without warning and no communication . It was quite a chilly weekend, so I wasn't able to fall asleep again. I called the property contact number about 4 hours later (after not sleeping at all) to find out about the electricity, and the lady didn't answer. I texted and only received a response four hours later! And very casually so. Only after I took her to task she apologized, saying she was sleeping and only checked her texts then (and here a paying guest had very little sleep). The elderly couple was very apologetic, and even though I had requested a refund for the next night, I decided to stay. The old man even offered something for me to sleep better the next night. The problem came on Sunday morning, and I wasn't able to get to my car because the garage door leading to my car was locked. I screamed and screamed to get the people’s attention in the house, but to no avail. It's only when I walked around the house and triggered the alarm that someone finally came to open. It was definitely not one of my best experiences
