La cuisine est grande et bien équipée. Edgardo nous a accueilli avec gentillesse et donné toutes les informations nécessaires. La chambre était propre et disposait d'un petit chauffage d'appoint.

La chambre réservée était de 20m2, mais nous avons été placé dans une chambre d'environ 10m2. Le gérant de l'établissement n'a pas voulu nous facturer notre séjour sans la TVA alors que nous étions étrangers et éligible à l'exemption de la TVA, en paiement par carte bancaire en dollar. Ce qui fait que le logement était cher pour ce que c'était (petit déjeuner non inclus, douches dans un batîment extérieur, froid en cette saison)

Mi pasar por el hostal Scorpius fue lo máximo! Es un lugar agradable, muy bello, con una cocina super amplia, las piezas también muy amplias y bellas, muy ordenadas e incluso con calefacción para estos días de otoño, los baños siempre limpios y con todo, además de separar las duchas que se agredece bastante, agua calentita, el patio es divino para observar los cielos, todo 10/10! Compartir con Sandra y Richard fue muy enriquecedor; obviamente tambien Edgardo fue sumamente amable y me oriento para ir a cumplir mi sueño de ver ballenas en Chañaral de Aceituno. Volvería a ir una y mil veces más, me encantó Vicuña y estar en el hostel hizo que mis días fueran mas divertidos y amenos, además de conocer mas sobre la historia de los pueblos originarios y sobre la gran Gabriela Mistral.

The garden with its hammocks in between trees, wine and green parrots and a really friendly enormous orange cat is the best. A wonderful place to relax. The other aspect I really liked about the hostel were the people that work there. Eduardo, Richard and Sandra make this place special. I’ve never before stayed in a hostel where someone invited you to a dinner or gave you a lift to the bus stop for free because he decided your bag is too heavy. Sandra is offering tours. She is new in the business but seems to already know everyone around Vicuña. What’s special about her tours is that she looks for places where tourists can get to know local shops and businesses and get in touch with the locals who explain about their work (e.g. a ceramic place or a special restaurant that we visited). I stayed for 4 nights and if I had had the time I would have stayed for longer (in the hammock). What I also liked was that it was a quiet place and that there were not a lot of people staying there. We were 3 girls in a six bed dormitory. The luxury of travelling in low season and because they use all of their dormitories even if there are only six people staying at the same time instead of stuffing everyone in the same dorm until it’s full.

The beds/mattresses are really comfortable but even 4 layers of blankets were cold for me as they never stay in place. What would I give for a real duvet with a duvet cover (that’s sth you hardly find at any place in Chile). I didn’t like the smell of the washing powder or perfume they use on the bedsheets but that’s something really personal.
