Hidden Treasure Lodge Chuka

The place is really nice. I chose it mainly because of the views, especially the waterfall. I initially thought all the rooms had a waterfall view, but when I arrived, I was given a room with no view at all. I requested a change, and they gave me a better room. While my second-floor room still didn’t have a direct waterfall view, the views were still good. One thing I absolutely loved was the sound of the waterfall at night, it was so calming. It actually made me go to bed early (I even forgot to order dinner 😄). The next morning, I had breakfast, which was quite heavy, I couldn’t finish it. After that, I took a walk around, and I honestly loved the place even more. There are so many trees, a beautiful waterfall, and everything is very well maintained. There’s also a lovely garden where you can relax, eat, or even enjoy the pool. For lunch, I ordered chicken, and it was delicious. They organized transport for me when leaving the accomodation to my next destination. Taxi can be a bit costly, so I chose the Boda boda option.

The garden area can get quite noisy. When I tried to work and have a meal there, some teenagers were playing football on the same garden and kept coming too close to my table, even knocking it several times (I was scared they would knock off my laptop). I had to leave and eat my meal in my room, which was disappointing. The music in the garden was also quite loud, so it didn’t feel like a relaxing space. I was initially given a darker room with no view, even though there were better rooms available. It would have been better to offer the improved option from the start. The breakfast was served cold, and I had to ask for it to be warmed. Warm food should really be standard without needing to request it.

The location was superb. Quiet, in the woods, a flowing river and waterfall. The breakfast was best the first two days...the last day was rather plain and didn't have the same ingredients as the first two days. Don't really eat smokies so would prefer a replacement with beef/chicken sausage. Liked the indigenous dishes like sweet potato and arrowroot (nduma).

Always welcome visitors well and assure them of a good stay. First impressions matter!!! Check always on booking.com for bookings to be assured once the bookings have been made because that's where bookings are likely to be made rather than physical. Receptionist needs to be aware of all bookings done. Perhaps even some feedback to assure the traveller that their booking has been well received.

the bed is dead on the door the bathroom window is to low and anyone can be a peeping tom if they wanted too.
