The Baroness

The room was very spacious, modern, spotlessly clean and comfortable. The firm bed was comfortable, with excellent air conditioning, shower, Wi-Fi and smart TVs. Fantastic value and a brilliant central location for the Old Town, shops, cafés and restaurants. Make sure you also visit Soritis, the famous Kalamata cat who lives just across the road, and take him some treats! 😹😻🐾

Noise was the main downside. We stayed on a Saturday and the surrounding area remained very lively until the early hours, with noise carrying through the windows. This is understandable in such a central location, but improved soundproofing would make a considerable difference. There is also no lift, which is worth knowing if you have heavy luggage or mobility difficulties.

This was our last accommodation in a 5 week trip booked for convenience for a flight out of Kalamata. For the price we didn't expect much. Baroness exceeded expectations. The room is large and airy with plenty of room to pack and unpack. There's a little coffee station, a great shower and a small balcony. Entry is via key code meaning we didnt have to arrive at a specific tome. The owner was great at communicating. It's in a perfect location for everything. A short walk to the old town and close to restaurants, shops and museums. The bus station is within easy reach. We would definitely stay here again. Kalamata has so much to offer that one night isn't enough.

There was nothing to dislike

We stayed here for two nights before heading off to Kardalymni for a week. The location was very good. It was a few minutes walk in to the old town and the commercial shopping area and a ten minute walk to the central bus station. It was about a 30 minute walk down to the harbour (really not worth the visit in my opinion) and the walk took you through a lovely shady park where there was a selection of old railway trains and carriages and also children's play areas. The old town is lively and thriving especially at night and people were still sitting down to eat at midnight and beyond. The bed was very comfortable. The shower was modern and the hot water was actually very hot. However, you had to remember to turn the hot water on via a switch in the wall. There are instructions available. It was very clean. There was a selection of tea and coffee and also some spirits which could be purchased if you fancied them. There was also a small fridge to keep your own drinks in. With the windows closed there was no noise at all from the streets below and the curtains and shutters provided perfect blackout. There was a very small balcony with table and chairs. The wifi worked very well whilst we were there. The host was available on the end of the phone at any time and communication was very good.

The access is up thirty five winding steps so an absolute no no if you have mobility issues. Lugging heavy suitcases up those stairs was difficult enough for a pretty fit person. There is no lift. There were only sheets and pillows on the bed. There wasn’t a blanket in the apartment. I ended up covering myself with towels and coats at night as I was cold. The pillows were also a bit lumpy and not particularly comfortable. New ones would be welcomed I’m sure. I’m sure had I asked the host for blankets she would happily have supplied them but I didn’t realise there weren’t any until we went to bed. There is a weird metal chair that is very uncomfortable and not really suitable for sitting and doing any work from. I had a zoom meeting whilst I was there and had to pad the chair out with pillows. There is a small desk which was good. We stayed for two nights and that was probably long enough for us. However, I would definitely stay here again as generally it is very good with an excellent location. I would travel light and ask for a blanket beforehand though.

Great location!

The leaking shower hose to the point that it wasn’t possible to get a proper shower. It was fixed in about a day. Hopefully the next guest after me enjoyed it. The AC was somewhat weak and it took a while to cool off a place after we’ve arrived, probably because of the ceiling hight. Would be nice to have a sink in the small earring area, there’s a fridge and glasses, but you have to wash them in the bathroom sink.
