Lavender Hill, Kangaroo Valley

The most beautiful location to enjoy cool morning walks, wombat watching of an evening, and toasting marshmallows by the fire with the kids. It is so peaceful and private at the end of the road and a lovely relaxed home with a gorgeous outlook. The indoor fire kept the home cosy and warm to enjoy. It was a great size and layout for our family.

The home feels a little unloved - a deep clean, a little maintenance and a freshen up of supplies (chopping boards, pans, linen) could easily bring the stay to a 10/10. The dryer handle repair was dangerous and the ensuite should have an exhaust fan. There was limited firewood and no extra linen or towels. We were not told that we could not access the creek until after we booked (although we were able to visit the creek anyway without issue). Limited water supplies could easily be resolved with a larger rain tank so that guests feel they can enjoy the bath as advertised.

The property was a peaceful and quiet getaway, located in a secluded area surrounded by beautiful nature and farm life. The drive to the home was scenic and enjoyable, and the views added to the relaxing atmosphere. Although we did not use the outdoor area or BBQ, these facilities were available at the property. The nearest town and general stores were approximately 15 minutes away, so it is helpful to plan ahead. The home was presentable upon arrival and spacious, making it a great option for families or groups of up to eight guests. The facilities worked well, with TVs available in the living room, garage, and master bedroom, as well as a ping-pong table for entertainment. We enjoyed seeing a few animal visitors around the property, which added to the lovely farm-life experience. Soap, toiletries, and towels were generously provided. We had no issues finding the property, retrieving the keys, or understanding the house rules. The communication throughout the stay was clear, helpful, and prompt, making the arrival and check-in process smooth and easy.

While the home appeared clean and presentable at first, we noticed one issue of cleanliness concerns upon closer inspection. There were stains inside some cupboards and kitchen drawers, including the drawers where the cutlery was stored. Some kitchen items, such as cutting boards and strainers, also had marks or stains that appeared questionable. For us, it was no trouble to wash, scrub, or run these items through the dishwasher before using them; however, as a first impression, the condition of the kitchen storage areas and utensils was slightly concerning.

Everything about the property was great.

Not a thing.
