Modern en-suite room in country PubRestaurant 3 with communal kitchen - Pass the Keys

Quiet, clean rooms, good base for visiting castles etc.

No light for balcony. I did slip on the step ( not alcohol related) a light would have prevented this.

Everything about the room, kitchen facilities and pub restaurant, staff contact, and location were totally excellent. We had the best experience we could have hoped for.

Nothing at all was wrong with the hotel, however the associated system which contacted us, after the booking was made, "Pass the Keys", despite them never being impolite in any way, seemed entirely superfluous and caused quite a lot of inconvenient time wasting communication, and for my wife particularly, worry. Being over 70 years old my driving license was away for renewal & I did not want the insecurity of sending passport details online, and refused to do so. Eventually the request was deleted, but not until after much discussion with the "Pass the Keys" staff, with reference to their I.D. verification group, Truvi. After we had let ourselves in with the key code, & only on the second day as we had no on site challenge as to our I.D., we took our passports to show the manager's son in the pub who was in charge at the time. He & other staff, all of whom were very pleasant & helpful, said there was absolutely no need for such measures & had not had that happen before, quite in contrast to "Pass the Keys" who had demonstrated suspicion of us as they said "we didn't seem like people who would stay above a noisey pub" . In actual fact it could hardly have been quieter, both in the pub, and in the area, a peaceful, fairly remote village, and two other couples who were staying there at the same time were clearly retired people like us. I feel sorry for one of the couples who had paid for the verification process which involved additional insurance provision, a premium of some £40. They had not challenged the process but wished they had, and were determined to avoid "Pass the Keys" properties in the future.

Very clean facilities, fabulous staff,especially the lady who worked on the bar and cleaning, so helpful and friendly. Food was marvellous, well done to the chef.

Bit off the beaten track and shared kitchen facilities weren't to our taste.
