Kokuang Homestay

Nice view, the owner was very friendly, service minded and informative. The accommodation has warm water for showering.

The location was high (1400m altitude) in the hills and the cooler air was certainly welcome; this is one of very few places to lodge up above the heat of the valleys in Nan province. This is a homestay comprising two simple ensuite cabins with pleasant views overlooking a small valley. The host was welcoming and made suggestions for visiting the waterfall down in the valley and the mountain road's viewing points. A simple but tasty cooked breakfast was provided; tea and coffee could be made at any hour.

The stray dogs are gentler, friendlier creatures than many reviews here would suggest. However since they can drift freely into the farmstead's grounds and there is no fencing around the cabins, they can easily swipe food off the cabins' veranda tables, as we discovered when our back was turned for just 10 seconds. While rustic homestays are always basic by their nature, it seems a pity that some degree of separation of the dogs from the guest lodgings cannot be set up... We had problems getting hot water - I'd recommend getting the shower's use demonstrated to you on arrival, before the hosts leave / sleep.

La vue magnifique, l'accueil était très chaleureux. Le repas du soir et le petit déjeuner étaient excellents. Superbe nuit dans la campagne.

Dommage que l'odeur due aux nombreux chiens dénote l'endroit. Mais les chiens ne sont pas intrusifs. Et nous avons eu un peu froid mais c'est normal en montagne.
