Impressive house with good furnishings, in a central location, but facilities poor.
Lack of maintenance - particularly the electrics. The oven, hob, toaster and microwave repeatedly switched off. We repeatedly had to flick switches in the fuse box, and eventually found a hidden switch to get power back to the oven and hob, located in a cupboard behind pans. We had phoned the housekeeper contact but she didn't know how to help.
There are two bathrooms, one only accessible from two of the four bedrooms (unless you want to go down a flight of stairs to the hall, into the kitchen and up another flight). The other bathroom on the bedrrom floor does not have a toilet. So users of bedrooms 3 and 4 wishing to pee at night must go down half a flight of stairs to the laundry room. Annoying fir the able bodies, impossible fir anyone with mobility issues.
There was only a small amount of toilet paper in each toilet room, and no spare rolls. Is this oversight or just plain meanness?
The basement games room is well furnished but smells rank with severe damp, (and this is summer).
In a house sleeping 8, and costing over £500 per night, we exoected better facilities, more care and attention to detail. We didn't feel very welcome or comfortable.
