The Wooden House

Close to town, very clean and well stocked

The location is superb, within a five-minute walk of the town centre. The house comfortably suited five guests, with capacity for an additional two to three. We would happily rebook on our next trip.

There wasn't air conditioning in the main suite, though we used the fans and found it comfortable overnight.

Beautifully presented with just about everything you could need. The bike shed was certainly appreciated.

Pillows on the bed were a bit too high, so a selection would help but having said that the beds were fantastic By the way- no vegetable peeler could be found which was amazing as there was every other kitchen item you could desire!!

The house was everything you could hope for. It was clean, spacious and well appointed. The hosts kindly left some coffee, tea and local goodies to try, and the kitchen was well stocked with all the appliances and crockery you could want. Even kids dishes! The location is fantastic, a quick walk into town and beautiful views of the mountains in the back yard. Check in and out were easy, and since we arrived late having the lights and heat on (and the cot already set up!) was so helpful. Really the hosts/property managers did an excellent job. The upstairs area is a great hangout for kids, and it would be the ideal set up for two families with the two main bedrooms downstairs and 6 single beds upstairs. If we come back to Bright we'd definitely love to stay there again.

My grievances are very minor and specific to myself and small children. It was difficult to watch my 1.5yo on the stairs as there was no baby gate and no easy way to block off the stairs. There also aren't any chairs, just stools and built in benches, so feeding was a bit of a challenge as we didn't bring a high chair and we couldn't strap our booster seat onto anything. On that note, the built in couch is a great design for the space, but not terribly comfortable as it's just hard foam and a rigid 90° angle for sitting. And finally, the beds are INCREDIBLY hard. Like I actually slept on a beanbag on the floor the first night, and then the following nights I just put a bunch of doonas and blankets on my side of the bed to try and pad it out. My husband prefers a hard mattress but even he woke up in pain after 2 nights.
