About this house rental
The “Friesenkrone” vacation home, renovated in 2023, is located in the heart of the quiet and family-friendly village of Pilsum, known for the famous “Otto Lighthouse,” about two kilometers from the refreshing North Sea—located within the unique natural wonder “Lower Saxony Wadden Sea National Park,” a “UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site” since 2009.
This exclusive vacation home measures approximately 160 square meters and features four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a very inviting, modern, and lovingly furnished living room, and a superbly equipped kitchen. This makes it ideal for a cozy North Sea vacation for two to eight people, plus two small children.
Special highlights include the two spacious terraces. Here, dear guests, you can truly unwind and relax!
The “Friesenkrone” vacation home is located just a short distance from tourist attractions. The village center, the Kreuzkirche, and the village fountain, as well as cozy restaurants and pubs, are all within easy walking or biking distance. For example, visit the historic “Alte Brauerei,” which has been restored into a cozy country inn. You should also definitely not miss the “Käsehof Rozenburg-Pilsum,” located about one kilometer away, which offers a wide selection of cheeses and fresh products from the region.
Pilsum is certainly one of the most beautiful villages in East Frisia. The village center, with its small, winding alleys and many restored farmhands’ cottages and Gulfhöfe, was lovingly renovated in the mid-1980s. It’s only about 1,500 meters to the dike and the “Pilsum Lighthouse,” which became famous, if not before, then certainly through the Otto Waalkes films. In the film “Otto, der Außerfriesische,” Otto lived in this lighthouse, which is why it’s now also called the “Otto Lighthouse.”
In earlier centuries, Pilsum was the seat of an East Frisian chieftain and boasts a very rich and ancient history. The Kreuzkirche, situated on a high mound, dates back to the 12th century and is classified as a national historic monument. A very special feature distinguishes the architecture of this church: the tower stands in the middle of the church.
For your morning rolls and daily essentials, there’s a small corner store in the village center. The nearest shopping options are in the neighboring, renowned resort town of Greetsiel. Greetsiel is definitely worth a visit. For example, take a leisurely stroll along the picturesque and historic 17th-century shrimp boat harbor and watch the shrimp boats as they set out to sea.
In and around Pilsum, Greetsiel, and throughout the entire Krummhörn region, there’s plenty to discover and experience.
Don’t forget to visit the seaport city of Emden, about 23 kilometers to the south, or the North Sea spa town of Norddeich and the city of Norden to the north!
Pilsum and its beautiful surroundings offer you a relaxing and varied North Sea vacation.
