Welcome to the Long House. A spacious & cozy late 50’s mid-century modern lover’s dream! It's perfect for families, travelers & professionals. Packed with amenities, the back expands on to beautiful Aldeen Park. Great location! Shopping, restaurants, 3 hospitals, Rockford Univ & School of Medicine, major corporations, sports facilities, downtown & attractions are minutes away. LOCATION:
On Rockford’s east side, this tucked away little neighborhood of mid-1950’s & 60’s homes is centrally located, quiet and safe. Best of all it borders beautiful Aldeen Park which includes wooded hiking paths, wide open spaces and a nature center. Nearby is Alpine Hills Adventure Park for tubing, snow boarding and zip lining! The Mauh-Nah-Tee-See Country Club is next door. Other public golf courses are close by. Close to everything anyone would need—good restaurants, grocery stores and services are all minutes out the door. Downtown Rockford with The River District, Davis Park, Nicholas Conservatory & Sinnissippi Park, Rockford Art Museum, Burpee Natural History Musuem and many other attractions and events are only 10 minutes away... as is the world famous Anderson Japanese Gardens and Frank Loyd Wright’s Laurent House. In addition to the things that are listed nearby, Sportscore I & II and UW Sports Factory facilities are within 15 minutes. Rock Cut State Park is 15 minutes away. For being in the middle of everything, you'll find it amazingly quiet and private here.

FUTURE SHORT TERM REQUESTS: Unfortunately, we do not commit to shorter term stays (7 days or less) several months in advance. Do ask about future dates though. We will do our best to see if we can accommodate you. We also offer additional discounts for stays more than 30 days. SORRY NO OTHER DISCOUNTS OUTSIDE THE WEEKLY DISCOUNT FOR UNDER 30 DAYS (the price as quoted by VRBO includes the 15% weekly and 30% monthly discounts). For long term stays an additional security deposit may be required.
NUMBER OF GUESTS: As stated, the house can accommodate up to 10 people. 8 very comfortably. A queen or double or twin sized air bed can be provided after 8 guests or should someone want their own bed for a supplemental fee. Please inquire for special sleeping arrangements.

Pro's: Quiet, spacious rooms, great location in cul-de-sac, backs up to Aldeen.Side note* if you're into retro blast-from-the-past then this place would probably please you. For us, it comes across as them trying too hard. I don't know. I guess I'd have to hear the back story of the house, etc. Con's: Everything is obviously old and outdated. Dining area smelled heavy of bug spray. If you're someone who is a late-night owl who prefers to sleep into the late mornings/early afternoons, this place might not be great as there aren't really any good "dark" rooms. The blinds/curtains don't particularly block the light. It was also dirty and dusty and full of cobwebs. Right away we found a spider web coming from one of the master bedrooms' windows above the bed to a lamp so of course all I could then think of was where the spider was-- window, lamp, or worse yet in then bed! The sunroom (room off of living room) had horribly big, thick webs in the corners.Also a huge con is they charge 250 for cleaning yet want you to launder your towels and do other things before you leave. No, I'm not paying 250 and cleaning. If I do that then why on earth am I paying the 250 cleaning fee? (But, we personally always leave places better than we find them-- you're welcome!) The bathrooms suck too. I don't know.. again, everything is just old. You could make this house really beautiful if you took the time and spent some money to update it. Sure, it's got "nostalgia" if you're into that.....

This place was amazing. Such a beautiful home and brought some childhood nostalgia. Everything you would need for your stay was provided. (Except the clothes and personals, of course)The outside is very well kept. Definitely enjoyed my mornings on the bench in the back yard.Would recommend this place to everyone wanting a vacation.About the owner? Such an amazing person. Unfortunately, we didnt get to meet in person but, they were very responsive to our messages and calls.Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in your home

It’s like walking back in time the minute you walk through the door. As we explored the house, we repeatedly said “OH WOW” at every turn! The house is in a regular neighborhood, but once inside it all feels very private. Nice yard, with a lovely view of the park that goes on forever! Communication was excellent and fast! Can’t wait to go back…
