Aerospace Inn

The staff person was friendly and efficient, that’s the best of this stay other than a convenient location enroute. But from there on it dawned on me I had made a mistake by not paying a little more for a branded chain elsewhere. Firstly, the room door looked like it had been broken down by the SWAT team once or twice, very precarious closures. The inside of the door was covered in greasy handprints, like someone was working on their engine and coming in and out. There were two chair beside a table, and BOTH of them were completely filthy black on the seats as well as the backs, which might sync up with the condition of the door, maybe an engine mechanic usually takes this room. Floors didn’t have carpets, which was a godsend given the condition of all the other upholstery. Bed was fairly comfortable and I didn’t find bedbugs, which could mean that even bedbugs won’t stay here, haha. Bed platform is a sheet of steel which “bongs” loudly when you stand next to the bed given your shoes will hit it. Bathroom…. Well… Faucet seemed to have been roughly cleaned and then left without rinsing, there was what appeared to be gobs of white cleaning material all over the chrome. Toilet was fine. The shower had a cheap flimsy curtain partly off the rings, nowhere to prop soap and shampoo, good for a fast rinse and go. Did have a functional refrigerator, even the freezer was good for recharging my ice. Heat/AC unit was fully functional and even had a “continuous fan” mode which was sorely needed given it’s directly across the street from a major rail line, and the highway between them hauls lots of trucks 24/7. Earplugs and the fan dropped down the noise to a reasonably bearable din. But realize this is a U-shaped building and basically well designed to capture and amplify noise. Parking worked, though noticed some people sitting in car there for hours, staring at me and my car whenever out. Had no issues with my vehicle or interactions, just a cautionary vibe. Got no sleep that night, not because of the noise but because I felt a constant cold chill. I kept adjusting the heater up and up but still always felt this faint chill hitting my legs and torso that kept me awake. I surrendered to it and figured I’d make up sleep at the next hotel. Upon gathering my things to leave I was near the window and noticed it had a slight opening of about 1” that I never noticed, and given the freezing desert temps it was clear that was the source of that weird illogical chill. I walked by the window several times during the day and evening and hadn’t noticed it, it’s weird that a hotel would leave windows open for an empty room, but be sure to check this if you ever check into this place. So Agoda wanted me to rate this, and I have. I wish I had not stayed here, would have preferred to spend much of that $75 on a nice steak dinner and try sleeping in my car, absolutely bummed about choosing this hotel. It’s one of those situations where you’re all unpacked and in bed and despite figuring you’ll power through the uncleanliness and noise at 2AM realizing you’ve make a huge mistake and will never sleep because it’s too cold, and you just soldier on until daylight to pack up and hope you can safely drive on no sleep. Again, the host was friendly and nice, but I would never recommend staying at this hotel. Spend a few bucks more for a reliable brand here or nearby, or even sleep in your car. You’ll thank me later.
