Al Mahali Villas Diani Beach

A truly charming place to stay. It's not exactly newly built, so a few updates here and there wouldn't hurt, but overall it's a very pleasant property and perfect for a group of friends or a family. We stayed in the villa closest to the pool, restaurant, and beach. The rooms were nice, and there was a large, comfortable social area with sofas, a TV, and a great bar counter connected to the kitchen. Comfortable beds, air conditioning, and a fan in every room. In other words, the accommodation was really good, although there is some room for improvement. As for the rest of the property, everything is very nicely arranged, with different types of sun loungers and a relaxed atmosphere throughout. Then we come to the restaurant side of things, and unfortunately there is quite a lot that could be improved. I won't go into the details here, as I have already discussed them with the owner, Sean. To avoid any misunderstandings or misleading information, I want to make it clear that the issue was never the food. Quite the opposite. The food was good. My hope is simply that they can improve the logistics and, to some extent, aspects of the service. I am, however, disappointed in Sean, who said he would address the issues that didn't go so well. Unfortunately, that never happened. Silence became the strategy, and that's not really the kind of response you expect as a customer. Who knows, perhaps the thinking is that guests probably won't come back anyway, so there is no need to make too much of an effort. I honestly don't know, and that's only a guess. Unfortunately, that's the impression you are left with when the silence is so noticeable. There is, however, a bright light on the restaurant horizon at Al Mahali, and that is the most service minded person we met during our stay: Beatrice.

Villas are very comfortable and well decorated. Perfect to fell like at home. The place is just in front of the of the beach with direct access, and very close to Dive centre and Kite Surf

The place was very luxurious and the villas were extremely spacious and beautiful. The architecture is beautiful. The kitchen was perfect for cooking your own meal but the food at the restaurant was still amazing so it was not necessary. Both chefs Baker and Masha were friendly, kind, and helpful. We loved them! They even helped us with people on the beach trying to sell us things. The TV was also great for watching world cup games. The rest of the staff was also kind and very supportive. We felt welcomed and at home. The appartment has a great private pool, and then you can also enjoy the common space, with a pool and places to rest, and right in front of the beach.

This is just a very small thing and it did not bother us at all, but It is not fully closed in some areas, so any bug can get in. But they do have mosquito nets in the bedrooms and the white walls repel mosquitos so you should be fine. It looks that that is how houses are built in this area, letting fresh air come in. Also, this has nothing to do with the villas, but be aware of food poisoning if you visit Wasini island. If you book a tour, you will see the dolphins and beautiful scenery, but be careful with the food at the restaurant. Maybe ask for it to be served very hot. We got sick after this tour. The staff at the villas were compassionate and helpful and called the doctor to come to care for us, they also offered lots of help and support. It was a completely different tour and not connected to the villas, this is just a warning.
