Motel Blackall

excellent value for money for my overnight stay. All the fundamentals needed for a break in a long trip. easy check in and out and then on my way.

the room was clean, bed and linen ok, good parking at the door.

the stench of the sulphur artesian water, not the motels fault, just is what it is. but could not shower as it was so overpowering, the shower was a solid cubical in a very small bathroom, that made it worse. the shower curtain was so old it fell apart when pulling it back. not value for money in this accommodation.

The bed was very comfortable, and I slept very well. The room was clean, and the motel was well situated on the main road. The tv and the aircon/heater worked fine. The water was nice and hot.

I was in room nine. It had a Venetian blind, but the function of the slats opening and closing didn’t operate. Also, it wasn’t possible to raise the blind. So, it had to stay closed. Directly outside room Nine was a very BRIGHT light. It couldn’t be switched off from the room, and it stayed on ALL night. Its brightness made it through the closed blind. Luckily the two bath towels were quite large, and I was able to hang them from the top of the blind. That effectively cut off the brightness of the light. Without that, the room would have been quite bright. While there was a bedside table, there was no lamp on it. The room was only fitted with a super bright fluorescent tube. I’d stay here again, but would avoid room nine.

It was quiet

Smeary sh_t in the toilet bowl and a lump of it on the toilet brush. Went there as it had a restaurant attached, separate business, but closed as the owners on holiday. The motel itself had ‘baby-sitters, in charge who were a bit ho hum when it came to sort out the air con. Supplied a long extension cord to add to all the other plugs and leads already there. As it turned out I noticed there was actually a separate switch for air con, TV & lights. Sorted. In NZ it would be considered a dangerous situation.
