Easy access to the building and apartment using the provided code. The apartment is very spacious and has excellent air conditioning facilities, which were much needed during a very hot August. The location is excellent, right in Cartagena's historic center. Most of the main attractions, restaurants, cafés and tourist areas are within a short walk, making it very convenient for exploring the city on foot. There is also a convenience store nearby opened late at night and supermarkets are at a 10-minute walk. The host left us a welcome package with snacks and drinks, which was very much appreciated, especially since we checked in late at night and were starving! The host was also very responsive whenever we had a question. Overall, a very pleasant stay. We would definitely recommend this apartment!

One thing worth mentioning, although this has nothing to do with the apartment itself, is the smell in some parts of the neighborhood/city. Many parks, hidden corners, and passages between buildings had a strong smell of urine, similar to that of a public urinal. Fortunately, we did not experience this unpleasant smell inside the building or the apartment.

The place is spacious and clean; it's in a good location for the Roam sites which is quite a poor part of town. It is however above an excellent bakery that is open until 10pm.

We were not sent the door code in the email telling us how to get in. In the main bedroom the tables at the side of the bed are large enough to push the bed to one side. This means that on the left the pillow and is the same height and right next to the light switch, so once or twice per night you are woken up with all the bedroom lights coming on. There are no bedside lamps or lamps of any kind in the rest of the apartment. There are no shelves anywhere, so clothes have to be kept in a suitcase or 7ft up in the cupboard above the wardrobe. Only one set of towels was provided for the week, we asked for some more but none arrived and it's not possible to dry towels in April on the strings in a covered balcony. That's the method for drying stuff, strings across the enclosed balcony. Really this place needs a tumble dryer. The single room is very small. There could have been extra bedding. There are no hooks to hang towels from in the bathrooms so they have nowhere to dry and no shelves to put toiletries on. There was no welcome pack so if you want to cook, you will need to go out and buy at least salt and olive oil, if you want to make coffee you will need to buy milk and sugar, if you want to use the washing machine you will need to buy laundry detergent and fabric conditioner. If the people managing this property had bought bulk tiny bottles or just left the stuff there from previous tenants it would be so much easier for people coming to stay for a few days and it would cost almost nothing. The walls are completely barren, it's like the place was painted then someone spent €20 at Ikea for cooking equipment, plates and glasses and then rented it out. So it just doesn't feel cosy or like a home.
