Baraboo Retreat near Wisconsin dells, Ho Chunk Casino and Devils lake!

We didn’t spend much time in the house. Got in late and left early. But the house was clean and easy and we were close to downtown, which is what we wanted.

Stayed for one night with 4 kids and 3 adults - home was very clean and had everything we need. Only complaint is I had to reach out to owners to get check in information. Owners never reached out on their own regarding stay - wasn’t sure what I need to do when I left. Lack of communication seemed strange. (Note: when I reached out, they did respond in a timely manner).

Was nice house close to things, wish we would have had a book with checkout details etc but other than that was pleasant place.

The house was almost great. It was clean, quiet, and in a great area. There were some basics missing in the house like a broom or vacuum. Or a large mixing bowl. But the loss of stars came from two larger issues. One of the 3 bedrooms shared a see through fire place with the living room. Offering no privacy at all. You couldn't even change in your room without being on display to the rest of the house. In addition, the house had no deadbolt on the front door. Now I've spent a lot of my life in Baraboo. So I know it's a safe town and a safe area. But this is still a major safety concern. All the rental homes I've stayed in that have digital access pads, have the pad on a solid deadbolt. This one was on the door handle. It wouldn't have been hard for someone to gain access to the home if they wanted to. And ultimately, that is the reason for the low stars.
