About this house rental

This listing includes 3 complete separate residences (40 yards apart) on the same 3 acre lot only 10 minutes (6 miles) from Historic Downtown Durango and 20 minutes (20 miles) north to Purgatory Ski Resort. The property is less then a 5 minute drive to the newly renovated Durango Hot Springs, Dalton Ranch Golf Club as well PJs Market and a great liquor store (Animas Liquor). Additionally it’s located on Country Road 203 know as one of the best cycling routes in Durango with fresh asphalt, quiet country atmosphere, and rides that extend to great destinations.

MAIN HOUSE:
Our 5 bedroom, 4.5 bathroom residence ("The Wright House") offers views of the Hermosa Cliffs as well as privacy and seclusion, yet close to all the Durango amenities.

This is a unique opportunity to stay in a residence originally built in 1962 and designed by one of Frank Lloyd Wrights students. The residence was completely remodeled and finished in early 2023 remaining true to the period and making it much more than your typical vacation rental. The luxurious home is furnished with high quality period furnishings, Smart TVs with cable in 4 of the 5 bedrooms, a fully stocked kitchen, and beautiful deck with a fire pit and valley views. Central AC was also installed.

CABIN Number 1 :
Our 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom 700 square foot cabin was completely remodeled in fall 2023 and features a fully stocked kitchen, brand new furnishings, AC, washer/dryer, WIFI and a patio with seating, BBQ Grill and a Gas Fire Pit.

Cabin Number 2:
Completely renovated in 2025 and newly furnished in 2026, the 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom cabin includes all the comforts expected in a quality mountain stay including central A/C, high-speed WiFi, a fully stocked kitchen, and washer/dryer.

The residences are perfect for multiple families as they feature multiple living spaces, a private circular drive and plenty of parking for vehicles and trailers. It has great outdoor space with an 8 person hot tub, plenty of outdoor seating, and on property walking trails that grant access to national forest. It includes a complimentary Level 2 Tesla EV charger that can provide a full charge overnight.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our group of friends take a yearly bucket list motorcycle trip and this year we chose our main destination of MDH and Southwest CO. I am so happy we found this home. It was perfect for our group and you can't beat the location for MDH/San Juan, 4 Corners, Mesa Verde, Silver Thread/Rio Grande NP, even day trips to Moab/Arches/petroglyphs/North New Mexico! We loved the hot tub after so much riding. The only things I can think of that could use some attention is the driveway, over growth of shrubs, and gas grills (ended up not using too dirty). VRC was outstanding on communication and immediate responses. The process was super easy and convenient! Thanks y'all!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The main house and two bedroom second house were clean and well maintained. Overall, it met our needs and accommodations and was a good choice for our family reunion vacation. Plenty of room and comfortable and good location near Durango. However, we had a problem with the plumbing in the basement floor, in the main house, the last two days of our stay. The basement included two bedrooms a bathroom, washer/ dryer, refrigerator and kitchen sink. Because the basement was lower that the units septic system, is had a pump to lift the sewage up to the septic. The pump failed and caused flooding of the basement area. Which was somewhat inconvenient since we lost the use of the toilet, washer and sink. To his credit the owner was quick to respond and initiate repairs and cleanup of the area. ALthough this took two days to complete. The rental agency was also good at keeping us updated as to the progress and informing us of the expected arrival of the plumber and cleanup people. It was unfortunate that the problem happened.
