About this villa rental
This modern 140sqm detached luxury villa on a 400sqm plot is located in Kyrianna village close to Rethymno. The entire villa with pool and terraces and outdoor area is exclusively yours alone. A view of the mediterranean sea in front, a view of olive groves in the back. Pure relaxation in a deckchair by your own 10sqm pool. Soak up the village tranquillity with the sounds of chickens, sheep and church bells. Waking up and looking out over the sea from your bed. This villa gives this luxury touch that everyone needs on their vacation. Only 15min away you find the exciting city of Rethymno with hundreds of shops and restaurants. All rooms are equipped with mosquito screens and shutters.

Unfortunately, there is no infrastructure to accommodate the needs of people with limited mobility and wheelchair users, as there is no elevator for the upper floor.
Kyrianna is a beautiful traditional Cretan village, only 20' from the centre of Rethymno with its lively atmosphere. Kyrianna is also a listed traditional settlement and a municipal district.The Church of the Panagia (Virgin Mary) is located in the centre of Kyrianna village and is dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. The original church (11th century) was a cruciform temple with a dome and looked like the chapel of St Paul in Sfakia. In front of the church is a bell tower with three arches of unique beauty and detail.
Near the house there are taverns, restaurants, supermarkets and cafes. The beautiful surroundings invite you to take walks in nature. From here you can easily explore the whole island on excursions.
The central location is very convenient for exploring all the interesting places. It is definitely worth visiting the monasteries of Arkadi and Preveli, the Minoan palace of Knossos, the pottery village of Margarites, the museum of Eleftherna and the Melidoni cave. The nearest local beach is 7 km from the house, Heraklion Airport about 79 km and Chania Airport about 80 km. The town of Rethymno is 14 km away.
For trips to Rethymno you can take the bus from the bus stop opposite the supermarket in Kyrianna (tickets at the supermarket).

The villa was perfect for our needs, spacious and functional, with very high quality bathroom and shower facilities. The kitchen was well equipped for the everyday cooking needs of a six-person household, and our holiday clothes fitted nicely in the clean and roomy closets. The beautiful view to the village and the sea beyond from both upstairs and downstairs patios made a lovely backdrop for relaxing and dining outside. The cooling devices in all bedrooms guaranteed an easy night's sleep, and in the morning, upon opening the patio doors, the village roosters could be heard (but in no way noisy enough to be of disturbance). The neighborhood was peaceful, with the friendly landlord just next door ready to help with any problems (though none did arise). The village mini market is a short walk away, and we took to the habit of going there each morning for fresh bread (which arrived at 8 o'clock). There were almost no mosquitoes (in July) and surprisingly few other insects either. Small ants were curious about the bread crumbs left on the floor, but were easily dealt with by using ant spray and cleaning - we had no problems keeping our food on the tabletops (even fruit and bread), they did not get eaten by ants. We made several day trips to Rethymnon and beyond, the villa being a perfect base from which to explore Crete, a good combination of quiet authentic village life and easy access to cities, tourist attractions and beaches. Five stars well deserved!
